About Me

Hello, and welcome. I'm Melanie, a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC) and the founder of Blackbird Therapy.

If you've found your way here, chances are you're looking for more than someone to simply listen. You're looking for someone who will genuinely seek to understand your experiences, help you make sense of what's keeping you stuck, and walk alongside you as you create meaningful change. That's the kind of therapist I strive to be.

My path to becoming a therapist began with a simple belief: everyone deserves a place where they can be fully heard without judgment. Over the years, that belief has only grown stronger. I've had the privilege of working with individuals and couples through some of life's most difficult moments, and I'm continually reminded of the resilience people are capable of when they're given the space to better understand themselves and their relationships.

My approach is warm, collaborative, and grounded in evidence-based practices. I don't believe therapy is about giving advice or having all the answers. Instead, I see it as a process of working together to better understand the patterns that shape our lives, strengthen our relationships, and move toward lasting change. Every client brings a unique story, so I tailor therapy to fit each person's individual needs and goals.

Outside of the therapy office, I enjoy spending time with my husband and our two dogs, traveling, being outdoors, and continuing to expand my clinical knowledge through ongoing education and professional training. I genuinely enjoy learning and believe it's important to continue growing, both personally and professionally, so I can provide the highest quality care to the people I work with.

Thank you for taking the time to learn a little about me. I know reaching out for therapy can feel like a big step, and I'm honored you're considering allowing me to be part of your journey. Whether you're seeking therapy as an individual or as a couple, I look forward to the opportunity to meet you and support you in creating the life and relationships you want.
